Trust in the Lord

 In Daily Devotional

Proverbs 3:5-6, AMP

“Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.”

Our trust and confidence in the Lord, as well as our daily dependence on Him, grows in direct proportion to us humbly admitting that our own insight or understanding is inferior to His. This recognition, for a believer, causes us to seek Him first for direction and guidance daily.

Many of us previously thought we had all the answers; but after coming to Christ, we realize how prideful it was to think we could run our lives without God’s help. Frankly, I find it a relief to seek His will and guidance in everything first (Matthew 6:33). Without His direction, I sit still (Psalm 46:10).

We should humbly give God credit for every good thing, and boldly proclaim, to ourselves and others, His goodness, favor and grace over our lives. The more we thank Him for leading us in even the smallest areas, the more the Holy Spirit will direct us, and clear the path ahead of us.

Personally, I find it useful to give the Holy Spirit grateful recognition for every positive thing throughout the entire day, no matter how small a matter it may seem to me. He is so wise and gracious; everything matters to Him!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:

“I trust in the Lord with all my heart and I do not lean on my own understanding. In all my ways I acknowledge Him, and He directs my path.”
