The Spirit of Holiness

 In Daily Devotional

Romans 1:4

“…who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

1 Peter 1:15

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do…”

It was very intimidating when I first read what Peter wrote to “be holy”. Why? Because I knew how unholy I used to be, and that I will never be perfected until I see Jesus.

Holiness is the primary goal of sanctification, which is an ongoing process. It begins when we first surrender to the Lordship of Jesus and the Leadership of the Holy Spirit. To be “sanctified” is to be “set apart”, to be “made holy”.

Of our own selves, this is an impossible task. But, we have the Spirit of Holiness abiding in us. This is one of His primary tasks. In Christ, the Spirit is progressively making us more holy.

I have heard people say we are all children of God, but that is not true. We are all “God’s creations”, but Romans 8:14 says, “…those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”

Are you willing to be led by the Spirit? Are you letting Him do his work in you to make you holy? He will not force you. You must desire it.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father you want to allow His Spirit of Holiness, His Holy Spirit, to do His work of sanctification in you today. Ask the Father to help you willingly submit to His Hand as the Potter.

Be moldable clay today. Stay on the potter’s wheel.
