The Spirit Glorifies Jesus

John 16:13-14

“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.  He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.”

Jesus, Who is “the Truth” (John 14:6), knew we would need a Helper and Guide after He ascended. He and the Father sent “the gift the Father promised” (Acts 1:4), the “Spirit of truth” to fulfill this role in our lives.

Jesus finished His work perfectly and completely, and the Father recognized this truth by resurrecting Him from the grave, and seating Him above all things forever in Heaven. Jesus reconciled mankind back to the Father through Himself by the Cross and Resurrection. In this life, we must choose where we will spend eternity, and Jesus enabled us to choose Heaven by grace alone, through faith alone, in Him alone!

However, until Heaven, the Spirit of Christ, and the Spirit of the Father, the Holy Spirit, has been given to us to represent and glorify Jesus. When we receive guidance and instruction from the Spirit, we can be certain it is coming directly from Jesus. When we obey, we are glorifying God!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Thank the Father for His incredible Gift, His Holy Spirit. Tell Him you will listen for guidance and truth from Jesus through His Holy Spirit. Make a decision to be led by the Spirit today, and firmly resolve that you will be obedient to His promptings.
