Saved and Forgiven

 In Daily Devotional

Ephesians 2:8

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God…”

Colossians 1:13-14

“For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

Knowing very well who I used to be when I followed the ways of the world, I remain in awe at the magnificence of God’s Plan of Salvation through Jesus Christ. He has made it so simple. Why do we make it so hard, or think we need to add anything to it in and of ourselves?

What a relief it is to know that I do not have to work for my salvation. Christianity is the only world religion where this is true. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free (see Galatians 5:1). Unlike the rest of the people who follow other faiths, we are not in bondage to rule-keeping and good works necessary, in their view, to attain Heaven.

We are forgiven of all our sins – past, present and future – through the Blood-bought price of redemption by the precious sacrifice of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I thank God almost that He rescued me for the dominion of darkness! How about you?

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:

“I am saved by grace through faith, and this is a gift of God. I did not earn my salvation. I have been rescued from the dominion of darkness, and I now live in the Kingdom of Light in Christ Jesus. I am redeemed, set free, and forgiven of all my sins!”
