Your Old Man is Dead
Galatians 2:20
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
The list I made of “old man” sins and bondages was very long. I am truly free of all those things and I have not been seriously tempted to return to any of them because I quickly take captive every “old man” thought the enemy brings.
Oftentimes, we indulge in addictive behavior to try to fill the emptiness we feel inside, and/or to avoid thinking about and dealing with the root causes of the addictions. At first, dealing with the underlying issues is emotionally painful, and our natural tendency is to avoid pain, even when something good like freedom awaits us on the other side. But the Word of God is clear that Jesus took all our pain, shame, guilt and sin on Himself when He hung on the Cross.
This is only accomplished by totally surrendering daily to the leadership of the Holy Spirit in my life. I am dead, and the life I live now is not me, but Christ living in me, by His Holy Spirit.
Jesus has liberated us to live an abundant life. Don’t remain enslaved. Let Jesus set you free and choose to stay free!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Thank your Heavenly Father for sending Jesus to set you free from sin and every form of bondage. Ask the Spirit of Christ, the Holy Spirit, to live in and through you.
You are new!
