Freedom in the Spirit

 In Daily Devotional

2 Corinthians 3:17

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

I determined in 2009 to radically follow Jesus, and do my best to obey His teachings. Certainly, I was growing in the knowledge of Him as “the Truth” as I studied His Word and spent quality time in His Presence daily. Consequently, for quite some time, I had in fact realized inside me a freedom I had never experienced before, accompanied by real joy and true peace by His Holy Spirit.

The Spirit prompted me to make a list of oppressions, strongholds and addictions that I was once in bondage to, but from which I have now been set free. The list you saw earlier in this book was the result. Believe me, like Paul, I was “the chief of sinners” – it is a very long list – and I add to it as the Spirit reveals. Why have I chosen to be this embarrassingly direct and transparent with you? Because I want you to know that if God can change me so miraculously inside and out, He can change anybody! Do you want to be forever finished with being a slave to old strongholds and addictions?

Seek more of God the Holy Spirit. Be led by the Spirit. Pray in the Spirit. Walk in the Spirit.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell your Heavenly Father you want to be free from old bondages. Take your time. Be specific.

Ask the Holy Spirit to help you stay free.
