You Will Receive Power
Acts 1:8
Jesus said, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
When Jesus finished His work on earth and returned to the Father, the Father sent the Holy Spirit to earth for each of us. Jesus’ followers at that time were instructed to wait until they were endued with power from on High before they began to carry out the ministry of Jesus.
We should do likewise; that is, we should seek the power of the Holy Spirit before we move out among the people in the name of Jesus. We need the power of the Holy Spirit. Using only our own strength, we will burn out quickly, we will not be effective, and we can even do harm to His Kingdom.
Above all, we must remember the Holy Spirit is a person, He has a personality, and He can be grieved. His purpose in coming was to teach, lead, guide, correct, protect and comfort – the Helper who would walk alongside us as well as dwell within us.
However, we must yield to Him and allow Him to do His work in us. If we refuse Him, resist Him, or grieve Him, we will restrict the work that the Father wants Him to do in our lives. He is a gift from the Father, and we need Him!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell your Father you want to do all the work He has planned for you. Thank Him for the Helper!
You will receive power.
