The Blood Will Be A Sign

Exodus 12:12-13

“On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn of both people and animals, and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the LORD. 13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”

The children of Israel protected their households from the death of their firstborn by applying the blood of a sacrificed lamb to the doorposts of their homes. Very specific instructions and details were given by God so that the sacrifice and application of the blood would be effective thereby enabling the death angel to pass over their home.

For us, this is a picture of the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus. He voluntarily gave up his life so we could live. His death, burial and resurrection proclaimed absolute and total victory over death, hell and the grave for all time. His Blood represents His Life.

Like the children of Israel during the first Passover, we must recognize the sacrifice of Jesus and the effectiveness of His Blood being poured out on our behalf. There is nothing more precious or powerful than the Life of our Lord and Savior, Jesus; and, the Blood represents His sacrifice.

Have you applied the Blood of Jesus to the doorposts of your heart? Are you eternally protected from the power of death, hell and the grave?

Tell the Father you are thankful for His love so completely expressed in the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the power of applying the Blood to your life.
