No More Excuses

Exodus 4:10-12

“Moses said to the LORD, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.’ 11 The LORD said to him, ‘Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the LORD? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.’”

Moses tried every excuse he could think of to try to avoid God’s call on his life. I can relate to Him in several ways. I ran from God for many years before I finally surrendered to His call on my life. Have you been running from God?

In Exodus 3 and 4, Moses has one of the most amazing and interesting encounters with God found anywhere in the Bible. I recommend you read both chapters.

At first, in Exodus 3:11, Moses questions his identity, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” Sort of like, “Are you sure you have the right guy?”

Then, Moses says things like, “What if they ask me a question I don’t know?” or, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me?” Finally, Moses tries the excuse we see in our passage for today, but God was ready for him!

I have heard it said that God is not so interested in our ability as He is our availability! Are you making excuses to God why you can’t fulfill the plan He has for your life?

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell God you surrender to His plan for your life, and trust Him to make it happen.
