Receive the Gift of Power
Acts 1:4-5
“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
Jesus had already told His disciples to go into “all the world” to make other disciples and represent Him and the Kingdom of God. Yet, He told them to wait. This seems contradictory at first glance.
They must have been overflowing with excitement after His Resurrection, and ready to tell the world the Good News. They had been trained for over three years in the best School of Christ ever available. They probably thought they were ready, but Jesus told them to wait.
There was still something they needed – the very best Gift from the Father that they had not yet received. Jesus knew they needed the Baptism of the Holy Spirit before they would have the Power necessary for them to fulfill what He had commanded them to do.
Often times, after our salvation and water baptism, we are excited and want to do things for the Lord and His Kingdom. But we really have no power for success on our own. Of our own selves we can do nothing, but with Him, all things are possible.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Ask the Father for revelation about all His Power available to you in and through His Holy Spirit. Tell Him you want to be re-filled daily with His Spirit.
Receive the Gift of Power.
