Pentecost Power

 In Daily Devotional

Acts 2:1-4

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

For ten days after His Ascension, the Disciples waited as they had been instructed by Jesus. They were told there was a Gift coming from The Father and The Son, so they stayed together in faith and unity. This must have taken a great deal of self-control and patience.

They did not yet know what would be the great reward for their obedience, but they had spent enough time with Jesus to know with certainty that it would be magnificent. They had been told of Power, and they had been taught about a Person – a Counselor, Advocate and Helper.

Then, suddenly, they saw and felt that the Power and the Person were One! The Holy Spirit came upon them in the upper room where they were assembled, and demonstrated to them individually His Power and Presence.

There is always a reward for our obedience but we too must exercise faith, patience and self-control.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Ask the Father to empower you with His Presence today. Tell Him you are willingly, and obediently, waiting to receive His Gift before you start your day.

Pentecost power awaits. Receive it.
