Growing to Maturity

 In Daily Devotional

Ephesians 4:14-15

“Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.”

Yesterday we discussed living a life worthy of our calling. After we respond to the call of the Holy Spirit for salvation and a new life in Christ Jesus, we are called to be ambassadors for Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:17-20). In this capacity, we are expected to grow daily in Christ so we will “no longer be infants.”

Today’s passage is in the context of Paul relating how Jesus Himself gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers so that we in the body of Christ could be equipped for works of service so that the Body of Christ could be built up in unity and fullness (see Ephesians 4:11-13).

As ambassadors in the Body of Christ, we should desire to study the Word daily so we can properly hear our leaders, and apply truth to our lives. In so doing, the Holy Spirit will give us discernment so we will not be led astray by false teachers. In these last days, Jesus warned us to be careful we are not deceived (Matthew 24:4-5).

We must be growing daily in maturity in Christ so we can speak the truth in love to others.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Thank the Father for calling you to be an ambassador for Jesus Christ. Tell Him you want to grow daily towards full maturity in Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you and give you discernment.
