A New Way of Living

Ephesians 4:17-19

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.”

After we have become a new creation in Christ Jesus, our old life is gone, and we are called to a new way of living (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). We are also told we cannot continue to conform to the world and its way of doing things; rather, we are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind (see Romans 12:1-2).

I am so very thankful I no longer think and act the way I used to before I was saved. Surely, today’s verse applied to me in that prior life – futile thinking, darkened understanding, separated from God, ignorant, greedy, and with a hardened heart. I gave myself over to “sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity”. Can you too relate?

Recognizing who we used to be, we must be deliberate and intentional about separating ourselves from the same old people, places, and things we were around before salvation. If we don’t, it becomes almost impossible to experience the new way of life to which we are called.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father you desire to experience all of the new life He has planned for you. Thank Jesus for making it possible, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you today.
