God’s Spirit Lives In You

 In Daily Devotional

1 Corinthians 3:16

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

In the Garden, God walked personally with Adam and Eve until sin prevented them from being in His Presence. In the wilderness, God’s Presence dwelled inside the tabernacle in the Holy of Holies, and then similarly in the Temple, but He was not among the people; and, Ezekiel later sees the vision of the Glory of God departing even from the Temple in Ezekiel chapter 10.

The Father has always desired to dwell among His people. But He cannot live in sin. Jesus came to restore us to relationship with the Father forever. Jesus became the very sin the Father could not even bear to even look upon so that we could be made the righteousness of God in Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:21).

The veil of separation of God’s Presence in the Temple has been forever opened to us through the torn Body of His Son, Jesus.

God Himself has prepared a dwelling place again forever. His Presence, His Holy Spirit, dwells in you! The Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of the Son, lives in us who have truly repented and believed the Gospel!

Have you really stopped to meditate on this amazing Truth? You are God’s Temple!
