Fool’s Day

 In Daily Devotional

1 Corinthians 1:18

“For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”

1 Corinthians 4:10

“We are fools for Christ…”

Before I was truly saved in prison, while I was climbing the corporate ladder, April 1st seemed to me to be a sign of positive change each year. Invariably, this time of year was when raises and promotions were announced. Something of significance always seemed to occur in the Spring. I thought April Fool’s Day was “my lucky day”.

At the time, I thought I had everything under control, and that I was doing a good job running my life. I didn’t think I needed God.

What is the one-letter word in the middle of the word pride? “I”. That’s right, overcome with pride I was heading toward destruction. I thought I was wise, but I was a fool.

On my bunk in prison in the Spring of 2009, I began to face the truth. I wasn’t doing such a great job of running my own life – I had to face the facts of where I ended up, and how I got there!

Today the Cross is no longer foolishness to me, and I am glad to say I am a fool for Christ!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Talk to your Heavenly Father about where you stand with Him and His Son, Jesus, Who is the Truth. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal wisdom through the Spirit of Christ.

Tell the Father, you are willing to be a fool for Christ for all of eternity. You will never regret it!
