Don’t Look Back
Luke 9:62
“Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’”
When a farmer is plowing his field, he can’t make a straight row if he is looking back. He must keep focused on a point in front of him. In the same way, Jesus says we are not able to function effectively in His Kingdom if we are looking back over our shoulder at our past.
I finally realized there is absolutely nothing I could do about the past. Guilt, shame, regret, remorse and embarrassment had overwhelmed me for far too long. It had paralyzed me with fear, anxiety and depression, all of which kept me from moving forward. I was stuck. I decided that, more than anything else, I needed and wanted to trust God with my future.
I accepted the truth of His Word that He no longer held my past against me. He showed me I too had to stop holding my past against myself. I needed to accept His forgiveness, forgive myself, and move on. Are you stuck? Have you forgiven yourself?
If we aren’t focused on the path ahead we will still be impacted by the crookedness of our past.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell God the Father you want to be effective in His Kingdom, and that you will focus on what He has for you today. When the devil reminds you of your past, remind him of his future!
Get un-stuck. Stop looking back.
