Choose Life

Deuteronomy 30:19-20

“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life…”

I recommend you stop and take a few minutes to read the entire chapter 30 of Deuteronomy from which today’s passage is selected. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Moses makes it exceedingly clear for the Israelites what Jehovah is asking of them. Tremendous promises lie in store for anyone who will follow the Lord in the manner laid out by Moses to the children of Israel.

Many of us, for a long time before we were saved, participated in the devil’s schemes to kill, steal and destroy our lives and those of our families. In contrast, Jesus told us in John 10:10, that He came to give abundant life!

We are given a choice between blessings or curses, life or death. We must choose life! This is a choice for ourselves and our families. Deciding to wholeheartedly serve and follow the Lord opens the way for us to love Him completely, listen to Him closely, obey Him faithfully, and cling to Him and His promises tenaciously.

You will never regret your decision to choose life. Life with the Lord is so much more rewarding, fulfilling, and satisfying than anything I ever experienced when I was serving the devil.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell your Heavenly Father you are thankful that Jesus sacrificed His life for you. Talk to the Father about any reservations you have in committing wholeheartedly to serve and follow Christ Jesus.
