A New Creation

 In Daily Devotional

2 Corinthians 5:17, AMP

“Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!”

Have you been grafted into the Tree of Life in Christ Jesus?

As I considered this in my own life, I envisioned that I had previously been a wild branch on the tree of death, or the tree of knowledge of good and evil. I had been trained up to do good, but the more I learned and practiced evil, the more it destroyed me. I was dying and useless.

Was this you too?

But I learned from Paul, in Romans 11:17-24, how we were grafted in to Christ through faith. When we are grafted into Christ, everything associated with our past is gone, and we are provided new life totally from the Source of Life itself, that is, Christ. See also John 15:1-8.

God’s answer to the condition of a sinful man is not to try to improve him slowly over time. Rather, God kills the old man, and resurrects a totally new creation, one that never existed before.

We are instantly made new in Christ Jesus. In Christ we have access to a totally new way of living in freedom, and we do not have to continue to be in bondage to our past.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father how much you appreciate having the opportunity for a totally new life in Christ. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to make this verse ever more true in your daily experience.

Are you a new creation?
