Safe and Secure
Psalm 91:11-12
“For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.”
Psalm 27:1
“The LORD is my light and my salvation — whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life — of whom shall I be afraid?”
I have never counted them, but I have heard there are 365 references in the Bible telling us, “Do not fear”, “Do not be afraid”, or “Fear not”. If correct, this would be interesting and significant, in part, because it would be one admonition (warning) for each day of the year.
The Word of God is filled with verses that build trust in God; and, inspire confidence, courage, and boldness in us. We have the Holy Spirit of God with us at all times, and He promises never to leave us or forsake us.
A stronghold is a fortress, or an embattlement position. For us as true believers, the Lord Himself is our fortress and our refuge (Psalm 91:2). He is our Light to penetrate every darkness, and He is forever our salvation.
I believe we have angels watching over us, and keeping us out of harm’s way. I can think of a number of specific times where, in hindsight, I know I was supernaturally protected from harm, and even death. Can you think of some?
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:
“I am kept in safety wherever I go. I will not fear because the Lord is my light and my salvation. The Lord is the stronghold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?”
