God Intends it for Good

 In Daily Devotional

Genesis 50:20

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

Christians are not promised lives free of trouble and tragedy. Jesus Himself said, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Paul tells us in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

In our passage today, Joseph gives his brothers a most hopeful and helpful truth – even the bad things they meant for harm to Joseph were used for good by God to save their very lives!

We can take great comfort in this truth. In many of our lives we have been on what we felt was the losing end of trials and tribulations. Loved ones have been lost, and hopes have been shattered. Families have been separated, and material possessions have disappeared.

But when true repentance brings us back to God, He has the amazing desire and capacity to bring good out of hopeless situations. When all our love, faith and expectations are set firmly on Him and His abilities, He is free to work on our behalf in ways we could never have imagined.

By working miracles in our personal lives God is also able to positively impact our families. Further, He can use our testimonies to affect others for their own eternal salvation!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Talk to God about the situations in your life that you are convinced are hopeless. Re-commit yourself today to trust Him completely to work however He sees fit.

Take your eyes off your circumstances and keep them on Him.
