Overcomer and Conqueror
Romans 8:35, 37
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?… 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”
Revelation 12:11
“They triumphed over (overcame) him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”
Jesus is the ultimate Overcomer and Conqueror. In Him, we are also overcomers and conquerors. In the spiritual battles that rage around us in unseen realms we are not fighting “for” victory, rather, we fight “from” victory!
When we are “in Christ” nothing can separate us from Him, and every victory He achieved. Paul says, in Romans 8:39-40, that absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of Christ – “neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation.”
One of my favorite teachers, Derek Prince, taught that Revelation 12:11 can also be translated as, “We overcome when we testify of what the Blood of Jesus has done in our lives!” Yes, we must testify to others, but sometimes we need to testify to ourselves. We should always be quick to thank God for what He has done in our lives.
There should never be heard the description “defeated Christian”. It is an oxymoron!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:
“I am more than a conqueror. I am an overcomer by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony. Nothing by shall any means harm me.”
