Living By Faith

 In Daily Devotional

2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

We must not let our perception of circumstances or events dictate how we respond to them. We must do our best to imitate “…God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did” (Romans 4:17).

We trust in the Creator Who, by His Word and Spirit, brought forth everything out of nothing. Our eyes must be set firmly, confidently and assuredly on Him and His promises. Faith is trusting in God in and through all circumstances; and this faith enables us to persevere and overcome as we remain loyal to Him. God is Who He says He is, and He does what He says He will do!

In Christ, our sins are forgiven and we are justified by His grace; in Him we are “righteous”. Hebrews 10:38 quotes God as saying, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.”

We must always remember who we are “in Christ”. All the promises and protections of God are always available to us in Christ Jesus. Are you living by faith?

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:

“I am walking and living by faith and not by sight. I am not moved by what I see. I proclaim things that do not exist as though they do. I trust in the Lord with all my heart and I do not rely on my own understanding.”
