Leviticus 16:2

“The LORD said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.”

In the Tabernacle, and later in the Temple, the actual presence of God was manifested in the Most Holy Place. Access to it was severely restricted. A very thick, heavy curtain enclosed the Most Holy Place.

There were strict limitations regarding specifically who could enter the Most Holy Place and also when, and under what conditions, they may safely enter. The most severe consequence – death – awaited anyone who did not precisely adhere to the limitations and abide by the conditions.

When Jesus gave up His Spirit on the cross, the Word tells us that the curtain in the Temple was torn open from the top to the bottom to show it was not opened by man. The Father Himself was recognizing the finished work of Jesus, and showing the world that it is only through Him that we may now enter into God’s Presence.

As Christians, Hebrews 10:19-20 tells us, “…we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body…”. Hebrews 4:16 tells us we can, “…approach God’s throne of Grace with confidence…”.

You now have unrestricted access to God! Be confident. Go on in.
