This is the Way

Isaiah 30:19, 21

“People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you… 21 Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’”

Isaiah is hearing from God and writing under the anointing of the Holy Spirit as he foresees the day when everyone will have ready access to the Holy Spirit. Perhaps he is looking ahead to the day when Jesus said He would send His disciples the Comforter, Teacher and Helper, the Holy Spirit:

“And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.” (John 14:16-17)

Once the Holy Spirit came to live in us as Believers, we gained permanent access to the One Who wants to lead us all day every day. Romans 8:14, “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.” I believe this is the voice Isaiah was prophesying about in verse 21 above – the voice of the Holy Spirit.

His is the still, small voice, or gentle whisper, Elijah heard in 1 Kings 19:12, as the Lord instructed him. For me, He speaks quietly from the middle of my spirit. I do my best to listen and obey Him.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father you desire to better hear the voice of His Holy Spirit directing your life daily.

This is the way, walk in it.
