There Is No Other

Deuteronomy 4:39-40

“Acknowledge and take to heart this day that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other. 40 Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD your God gives you for all time.”

Over many years I encountered many gods. Yes, gods of self, success, money, sex, and drugs. I heard about Norse gods, Greek gods, Hindu gods, and gods of the underworld. Some of these I had personal experience with, others I only read about.

I was nearly 57 when I truly encountered the LORD Who is God. Now, I know there is no other. My only son, who was adopted, then abandoned by me at age 2, was already an adult before I really met the one and only “God in heaven above and on the earth below. There is no other.”

Since I began an intimate relationship with Him, I have learned by experience the truth of the Biblical principle that blessings follow obedience. It is not the other way around. In doing my best to be obedient, it surely has gone well with me. I only wish, for the sake of my son and ex-wife, I had truly repented and actually known God earlier in life.

My passion is to share the truth in today’s passage with many young people, and help them implement it in their lives for the sake of their current and future families.
