The Glory of the Lord
2 Corinthians 3:18
“And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
In this passage, Paul declares the glory of the Lord is the Spirit. The very essence of our Lord is His Holy Spirit, His Glory. By His Glory, Who is the Spirit, He is transforming us daily into the image of Christ.
This is confirmed as God’s purpose for us in Romans 8:29, where Paul says that God has predestined us to be conformed to the image of His Son. The Glory of God dwells in us, and it is His job to progressively change us into the very likeness of Jesus. This is the process known as sanctification.
The Spirit desires to remove everything in us that is not like Christ, so that His likeness is ever increasing in us, thereby allowing His Glory to be a Light in the darkness. He removes the impurities from us over time so we are a truer reflection of the Glory of God.
To the extent we see Jesus more clearly through His Holy Spirit, we are attracted by His Beauty and Glory. This attraction, like a strong magnet to metal, draws us increasingly to Him.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell your Heavenly Father that you desire to be filled today with His Glory, His Holy Spirit, so that you can be increasingly transformed into the image of Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal areas where you need to “deny self”, and follow Jesus.
Receive His Glory.
