The Eternal Spirit

 In Daily Devotional

Hebrews 9:14

“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!”

God has always been, and will always be. He is eternally “I AM”.

Therefore, all three persons of God are eternal. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit were not created and they will never cease to be. They are the uncaused First Cause of everything. They are Endless and Everlasting.

A.W. Tozer wrote, “God dwells in eternity, but time dwells in God. He has already lived all our tomorrows as He has lived all our yesterdays… Out of eternity our Lord came into time to rescue His human brethren whose moral folly had made them not only fools of the passing world but slaves of sin and death as well.”1

Jesus willingly and obediently offered Himself to God as the final, unblemished sacrifice for all of our sins, for all time. The Word tells us He accomplished this through the Eternal Holy Spirit so that we may serve the living God.

The Holy Spirit Who lives in you is the One Who is able to perfectly serve the Father. Our challenge is to more perfectly surrender to Him daily as He accomplishes this in and through us.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Ask the Father to help you learn how to more fully surrender to His Eternal Spirit so that you may better serve Him. Thank Him that the Blood of Jesus cleanses your conscience, and has set you free forever from time, sin and death.
