Stand Firm and Hold Fast
2 Thessalonians 2:13-15
“But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. 14 He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.”
The Bible tells us that in the last days there will be many false prophets and false teachings. It is crucial for us to “stand firm and hold fast” to sound Biblical instruction and guidance.
The Holy Spirit will continue to sanctify us after we come to faith through belief in the truth. We must let the Holy Spirit do His work in and through us to set us apart for God’s service, and make us progressively more holy. Our role is to be surrendered, submitted and obedient.
The Lord Jesus has called us to serve Him; and, to grow in our faith and in His likeness. The more time we spend prayerfully in the Presence of God daily, the more we will be able to rightly discern the spirits of this age. As we set aside regular time daily for the serious study of His Holy Word, we will correctly understand and apply Truth to our lives.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Ask the Father to give you a heart that hungers for the Truth, and ask the Holy Spirit to empower its application in your life.
Stand firm on the Rock. Hold fast to the Truth.
