Secret Things
Deuteronomy 29:29
“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”
I am convinced for all of eternity we will be learning more about God – His love, His thoughts, His ways, His character, His creation, and His plans. Even then, we will never be able to fully comprehend Him.
Yet, for now, He has revealed much of Himself through His Word. He knows our feeble brains cannot understand much of His majesty, but He has disclosed enough for us to be able to decide whether we want to have an intimate, personal relationship with Him in this world and extending throughout all of eternity.
Until one is born again, the Bible does not make a lot of sense to most people. But after the Spirit of God indwells the believer, the Holy Spirit begins to reveal precepts, promises, and principles that, when applied to our lives, bless us with genuine wisdom, knowledge and understanding.
Jesus said that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness shall be filled (Matthew 5:6), and it is the Spirit of God who gives us a hunger for the Word so we can learn increasingly more about God and His plans for our life.
Are there plenty of situations and concepts in life that we do not understand, and perhaps never will comprehend? Certainly, there are “secret things that belong to the Lord our God”.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father you trust Him to reveal as much to you about Himself as you are able to comprehend. Ask the Holy Spirit give you a hunger for the Word like you have never had before, and to help you apply it.
