Pray for your Prison
Jeremiah 29:7
“Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.”
Jehovah God allowed His people to go into captivity because they had turned their backs on Him in rebellion. They had followed idols – gods made by human hands. They chose to disobey. Choices have consequences.
Although the Israelites deserved their punishment, Father God gave them specific instructions in Jeremiah 29 as to how to make the most of a bad situation. He encouraged them to settle in and begin to change their lives for the better. He wanted them to prosper even in the midst of their circumstances.
One key to their prosperity was to pray for the place which held them captive. If it prospered, they too would prosper. It is important for followers of Jesus to pray for the prison where they are captive. Never underestimate the power of prayer to change people, places and things.
Begin to pray regularly for your facility, the Wardens, official rank, correctional officers, teachers and administrative staff. These people have their own family problems, personal issues, spiritual strongholds, financial stress, and the need for more of Christ. Some are strong Christians. Many are not. Do battle on your knees in prayer. Watch God move!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Ask your Heavenly Father to show you how to pray more powerfully by His Holy Spirit. Ask Him to bless and prosper the facility and everyone who works there. Be specific. Be diligent.
Pray for your prison.
