Overcome the Devil
2 Corinthians 10:4-5
“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
1 John 4:4
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”
Every day we come up against some sort of resistance from the enemy in the form of worldly ideas, sinful temptations, false teaching, and other challenges to our Christian beliefs. As these enter our minds through our five senses, we must be proactive in using the weapons we have in Christ to counter and reject them.
Joyce Meyer says, “We must think about what we are thinking about!” This means we must always be consciously aware of what is going through our minds, getting down into our hearts, and coming out of our mouths. We have the ability to examine every thought and make it obedient to Christ.
We have the most powerful weapons in the universe in the Word of God, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. These are not the weapons of the world. Do you use them?
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:
“I am daily overcoming the devil, because the One in me is greater than the one in the world. My weapons have Divine Power to demolish strongholds, vain imaginations and pretensions, and everything that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. I take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ!”
