No Other Name

Acts 4:12

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

In front of the Disciples, Peter proclaimed the revelation he had been given from God when he answered Jesus, “You are the Christ, the Son of the Living God.” Yet, in his own strength, he was unable to cling to this truth, and he denied he even knew Jesus.

After being baptized with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Peter boldly preached the Truth to those in Jerusalem, and 3,000 souls were saved! He and John courageously refused to be silenced by the Sanhedrin, and were thrown in jail.

The next day, when they were brought out to appear before the rulers, elders and teachers of the law, they were asked “in what name did you do this?” Peter boldly proclaims, “It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth…” Courageously, he proceeds to declare Acts 4:12 shown above.

Peter, the first great evangelist, boldly proclaimed Jesus under the anointing of the Holy Spirit of God. He is a good Biblical example for us!

Today is the birthday of another great evangelist, Don Castleberry, founder of Freedom in Jesus Prison Ministries. He tells everyone he sees about Jesus. Many thousands of prisoners have given their lives to Jesus in and through Don’s evangelistic ministry since he himself was saved in the Lubbock County Jail in the late 1970’s.

I am proud to say Don is my best friend and mentor. He loves prisoners more than anyone I know, and he really loves Jesus!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

We host the very presence of God! As we develop an intimacy of relationship with the Father, because of the Son, through the Holy Spirit, we will know Him better. In this knowing, we will want to honor, love, revere, and respect the awesomeness of Him. As a result, we will want to do our best to obey Him.
