Mighty Warrior

Judges 6:12, 14-16

“When the angel of the LORD appeared to Gideon, he said, ‘The LORD is with you, mighty warrior.’…

14 The LORD turned to him and said, ‘Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?’ 15 ‘Pardon me, my lord,’ Gideon replied, ‘but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.’

16 The LORD answered, ‘I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.’”

The story of Gideon is a fascinating, inspiring story and I suggest you read it all in Judges 6 and 7. The passage today is a great illustration of how God sees us fulfilling His plan for our lives. Gideon thought he was too weak, too unimportant and uncourageous. But, God saw Him as a “Mighty warrior”!

God uses the weak things of this world to shame the strong, and He chooses the lowly and despised to change the world, so that man himself cannot boast (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). Actually, the best place in humility for us to be is the realization that when we are weak, then He is strong (2 Corinthians 12:10).

God will not unveil his plan all at once. He expects us to trust Him one day at a time. He wants us to see ourselves the way He sees us. This comes progressively as we study His Word and choose to believe what He says, instead of what the world and the enemy wants us to believe about ourselves. Seek and follow God’s plan for your life. He will be with you!

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Ask the Father to help you see yourself the way He does. Trust Him to be with you.
