Let the Spirit Work

 In Daily Devotional

Philippians 2:13

“…for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”

Zechariah 4:6

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD Almighty.”

It amazes me that God has decided to accomplish His work on earth through imperfect people who are fully surrendered to Him. Jesus told His disciples not to go anywhere or do anything until they received power from God in the form of His Holy Spirit.

In the same way, when we are surrendered, listening and obedient, the Holy Spirit in us will lead us where He wants us to go so He can do what He wants to do through us for others. It is not our might or power, but His Spirit.

God Himself is working in us to accomplish His will in and through our lives. As we learn to fully submit to His Leadership and Lordship He is able to bring forth the fruit in our lives through which He desires to benefit and bless others – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control. This fruit certainly enriches us, but these character qualities of Christ are primarily beneficial to those with whom we are in daily contact.

We must stay attached to the Vine (John 15:1-5), so He can bring forth fruit. Without Him we can do nothing. He brings forth fruit that remains (John 15:16).

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Ask the Father to do what He wills in your life that will bring Him pleasure. Tell Him you want His Spirit to do the work. Don’t get in His way.
