Justified By His Blood
Romans 5:9
“Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!”
I have heard the word “justified” explained as “just-as-if-I’d” never sinned.
The Blood of Jesus is so powerful that God the Father sees me through the lens of Christ’s finished work as being pure, spotless and holy. He treats me as if I had never sinned. How incredibly marvelous is that?
In the booklet I previously referred to by RBC Ministries, “The Forgiveness of God”, they wrote that “the moment we trust Christ as Savior, we are given immunity from punishment. The issue is settled: Our case is closed and God will not open the files of our guilt again. Just as the courts of earth honor the principle of double jeopardy, heaven will not judge twice those whose sins have been punished in Christ. We will not be tried again for the sins He bore in our place.”
Having been in numerous court settings I can relate to the concept of double jeopardy. Can’t you?
God is much more just and merciful than any earthly judge. Jesus has already taken the punishment I deserved. He has finished my sentence. My time is discharged. I can go free.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Talk to the Father about how grateful you are to be seen by Him as a son who has been forgiven. Think about the high price Jesus paid so that this could be true for you.
You are justified. Take a deep breath and receive it.
