Jesus Is Coming Quickly
Matthew 24:27
“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
1 Thessalonians 5:3
“While people are saying, ‘Peace and safety,’ destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.”
The return of our Lord will happen suddenly, as quick as lightning flashes across the sky! Also, Paul tells us that it will be in the twinkling of an eye (1 Corinthians 15:52)!
So, how fast is the twinkling of an eye? Scientists say this is the amount of time that it takes light to enter the eye, reflect off the retina and be seen. Light travels at 186,000 miles per second, so a twinkle is estimated to be about a billionth of a second.
It is also reported that a flash of lightning travels at 200,000,000 miles per hour! That’s fast! A person will not have time to make things right with the Lord when He comes. One moment we will be here, but in the next moment we will be with Him!
Brothers and Sister in Christ, we must always live in such a way that we are ready for His return. Let us pray diligently for those who don’t know Jesus, and let’s live expectantly looking for Him!
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Ask the Father to help you reflect on your life to be sure you are living in such a way that you will be ready for the return of Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to your mind the loved ones and friends who may not yet be ready, so you can be praying for them diligently.
