Going Home: Get Involved

 In Daily Devotional

1 Peter 4:10

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

I urge you to be actively involved in serving others. Jesus demonstrated servanthood in every part of his life and ministry. Being part of the Body of Christ implies you are actively involved in functions that enable others.

While I was incarcerated, I looked for ways to serve the inside church, our Chaplain, and my cellies. Putting others’ needs before our own takes the focus off ourselves, and our own problems, and rightly turns our attention outward to others.

In today’s verse, Peter tells us God has given each of us unique gifts, talents and abilities we should use to serve others. As stewards of God’s Grace we are to generously give to others the grace we have received.

As we intentionally invest ourselves in the issues and challenges of others, the joy of the Lord strengthens and encourages us! In serving others, we are drawn closer to the Father by His Holy Spirit, and our personal testimonies give hope and encouragement to many.

I recommend you commit to being actively involved now. You will begin to see your gifts and talents in action, and you will be humbled by how wonderfully God uses even the simplest of your words or actions.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Ask your Heavenly Father to show you how you can be involved in the needs and challenges of others, and commit to Him to start today.

Step outside yourself. Get involved.
