God will Repay You

 In Daily Devotional

Joel 2:25-26

“I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm— my great army that I sent among you. 26 You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed.”

Jesus told us that the devil came to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10), but many of us pretty much cooperated with him and gave him everything because we were intentionally participating in sin. I doubt if I am the only one. Right?

Yet, today’s verse also says God Himself sends a “great army” of destructive locusts into our lives. I believe God allows His law of cause and effect (or sowing and reaping) to do a natural boomerang on us due to our sin and other bad decisions. In this way, perhaps, He could finally get our attention and we could choose to turn to Him and be saved (Isaiah 45:22).

It is truly amazing how many real life examples I personally know of, including my own, where God has incredibly and richly blessed those who turned their lives back to Him. In every way that matters, I have so much more spiritually, emotionally, and materially, than I ever had when I was serving the devil.

God truly “has worked wonders” for us and taken away our shame. Our cup runs over (Psalm 23)!

Maybe you haven’t seen it yet? Serve Him with your whole heart. He will absolutely amaze you.
