Earnestly Seek Him
Hebrews 11:6
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
I was raised up going to church, but when I went to college I turned my back to God and pretty much went my own way for most of the next 40 years. The only real faith I had was in myself, and I was not trying to please God, only people. Have you done this too?
Although I achieved quite a measure of worldly success, and was fortunate to have a wonderful wife and infant son, I never gave God any credit for how He had blessed me. Although I confessed that I knew God, I lived as if He didn’t exist.
Out of pride, I foolishly abandoned everybody from my previous life to begin a new career in Nashville’s music industry. I failed miserably, and lost everything. Faith in myself was no longer possible. Pleasing people in Nashville was beyond impossible.
It took a few years, but when I finally reached bottom, and put aside my pride, I cried out to God. I always believed He existed, but out of desperation at the end of my rope, I came to Him. He did not turn me away.
I began to seek Him with all my heart, and my desire to know Him better has only increased over time. It is very true in my life that He rewards those who earnestly and diligently seek Him.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father you are placing all your faith in Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to follow hard after God, and earnestly seek Him today.
