Death and Life

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

For most of my life, I worked hard for the devil for wages that I now know lead only to death. Can you relate?

Have you too been deceived by the enemy into seeking fulfillment in everything he could throw your way, finally realizing that none of it really mattered?

Think about this. Serving the world, the flesh and the devil is really hard work. The “rewards” are always temporary, and never fully satisfying. One is always left feeling a little cheated, a little more lost, and still alone. A person feels like the next raise, the next hit, the next sexual encounter, or the next illicit thrill, will be “the one”, but invariably, it isn’t.

Hopelessness, depression and despair are always lurking in our minds, and only self-medication can keep us from thinking about how poor we really are, and how little we hang on to, from our wages from sin. But the effects of self-medication are fleeting too.

Finally, in a prison bed, I came to the end of myself and cried out to God to rescue me. I had been a walking dead man far too long. If there was true life in Him, I wanted it. I no longer worked or strived, I simply received the Gift in faith.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father you will receive His Gift of salvation and eternal life through His Son, Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill the former emptiness inside with the unconditional love, and complete acceptance, found only in the Father.

Have you received His Gift?
