Consecrate Yourself
Joshua 3:5
“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’”
2 Corinthians 6:17-18
“Therefore, ‘Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.’ 18 And, ‘I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’”
Here is an important truth for everyone who is born again. Applying this diligently in your life results in great rewards. The Bible is clear that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him (see Hebrews 11:6). You will see the Lord do many amazing things!
The word “Consecrate” means to separate yourself for a holy purpose. It also means to be set apart as dedicated to God; set aside as sacred; and, to devote solemnly to a purpose.
This is not a “religious” activity; rather, it is increasingly a way of life for those who love God, and are diligently seeking Him. If you want to go deeper in God, this is a lifestyle choice. The day-to-day activities of life naturally require our attention; but setting aside more time with God instead of allowing worldly activities to dominate our “free” time is part of what we mean by separating yourself. It is not going off somewhere to live in a monastery, or giving up every worldly responsibility.
An important part of consecrating yourself is guarding what you allow to enter you mind, eyes and ears. We must be deliberate about the things we allow to influence our thinking, speech or actions.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father you desire to seek Him diligently and you will dedicate yourself to Him.
