Children of God

John 1:12

“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…”

Romans 8:14

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.”

We often hear unbelievers say, “we are all God’s children”. That is not true. In fact, it is a great deception of the enemy. We are all “created” by God, but not everyone is a “child” of God.

Before I came to Christ, I was a child of my father, the devil (see John 8:44), and I only did his works. Like a slave, I was led around by the world, the flesh and the devil.

In prison, when I finally gave in to the relentless, overwhelming love of God in Christ Jesus, my Savior, I became a child of the One True God. I received Jesus and I believe in His Name.

I am now led by the Holy Spirit of God! Because I have been adopted into the family of God, I am joint heir with Christ, and now able to share with Him all the marvelous, abundant inheritance from Our Father.

This is all available to you. Do you believe? Have you received? Are you led by the Holy Spirit? Are you a true child of God?

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Put the Word of God deep into your heart. Confess this aloud, and repeat it often today:

“I am a child of God. I receive the work of Jesus at the Cross and in the Resurrection done on my behalf. I trust in, rely on and call on His Name. I am led by the Spirit of God, and I know I am one of God’s children!”
