Do Not Grieve the Spirit
Ephesians 4:29-31
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”
The Holy Spirit is a Person the same as God the Father, and God the Son. As such, it is possible to grieve Him by our words, actions and thoughts. Rather than disappointing Him, we should do our best to please Him.
In our daily lives, we must be constantly aware how we are interacting with people along our path, and dealing with challenges along the way. The enemy of our souls is always lurking about waiting for any opportunity we give him to tempt us to act out in ways similar to our “old man” prior to Christ. When we do, we grieve the Holy Spirit living in us.
Don’t fall for the tricks, lures and devices of the enemy. The Spirit of Christ inside you knows the correct words and responses. Seek His guidance, and His peace, in the middle of the battle. Determine daily to do your best to please God in your thoughts, words and deeds.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father, aloud, that you desire to be led by the Spirit today, and not by the flesh, the world, or the devil. Rededicate and recommit yourself daily to pleasing the Father, Son and Spirit.
