Going Home: Be Thankful and Humble

 In Daily Devotional

Hebrews 12:28-29

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our ‘God is a consuming fire.’”

Thankfulness itself is a sign of humility. The Word says we are to be clothed with humility because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” See 1 Peter 5:5-6. If you desire more grace in your life, be more humble.

It has been said, “humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less”. We give credit to God and others for our successes rather than ourselves. Realizing more fully every day that everything in our life comes from God will naturally increase our thankfulness to Him.

When our hearts are overflowing with thankfulness, the peace of Christ will rule in our hearts”. See Colossians 2:6-7 and 3:15. Our Father has already made you “free on the inside” even right where you are now. Be intentional every day in counting your blessings. Name them one by one to our Father in prayer.

While you are anticipating and looking forward to being released to the free world, your heart will be filled with peace if you keep your mind focused on God in thankfulness and true humility. See Isaiah 26:3. Keep God first in your life all the rest of your days.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell your Father how thankful you are today for all the many blessings He has given you. Take your time. Consider even the simplest things.

Take nothing for granted.
