Turn Around

Luke 15:17-18

“When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you.’”

Clearly, everything that happened in my life leading up to prison was not what God had planned and intended for me. Rather, it was the result of my slow, steady, downward spiral into utter depravity. See Romans 1:18-32. If your Bible had pictures in it, mine would be there, for this was certainly a picture of me.

God turned me over to my own perverted and misguided, selfish desires which led to a “reprobate” mind – one that can rationalize and do the most evil, despicable things and still convince itself that they are good and acceptable. I was “dead” – like a walking zombie – in my sin and self-deception.

Like the prodigal son, when I came to my senses in prison, I was empty. I had a “longing” for something more than what I had available to me in my sin, my mess. I longed to “go home”. The parable of the prodigal son really got my attention. I could really identify with him. He demonstrated for me that true repentance is “brokenness”, and a change of life-direction.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Tell the Father you regret your past life of sin, and that you want to come home. He will welcome you with open arms!

Turn around. Go home.
