You Are Witnesses

 In Daily Devotional

Acts 1:4-5, 8

“On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: ‘Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. 5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’… 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

When you are baptized with the Holy Spirit, you receive power. In fact, the Bible indicates that the Holy Spirit is the very power of God Almighty present on this Earth. Everything the Father does is in, and through, the power of His Spirit.

We need this power to live the abundant life Jesus came to give us. Our lives should be so gloriously transformed that our actions, character, love and compassion speak more loudly to others than even the very words that come from our mouths. People should see such a difference in our lives that they would know we “had been with Jesus.” See Acts 4:13.

This is part of what it means to be a “witness”. A witness is one who testifies, and who gives evidence. A witness is someone who was present at a particular event or transaction, who will testify that it has taken place.

Will you testify today?

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Thank the Father for His Holy Spirit and ask Him to give you the power to be a witness of all the glorious work He is doing in your life.
