You Are Not Your Own

 In Daily Devotional

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies.”

God does not dwell any longer in temples made by man; rather, He lives in the re-born believer’s body, a temple God made. The price He paid for this was the Blood of His Son, Jesus.

When we are born from above God sends His Holy Spirit to live in us. He wants to dwell in a clean body. The Spirit’s job of progressive sanctification makes us ever more holy, and sets us apart for more of God’s service.

Our job is to participate with the Holy Spirit in this clean-up job by seeking intimate relationship with Him daily so that we will more willingly, and completely, surrender every part of our lives to Him. Submitting to His still small voice to lead us along the narrow path is crucial.

We must realize that we do not belong to ourselves any longer; we belong to God. It is His choice and responsibility to make us into the image of Jesus. We must be good stewards of our temple.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE:

Tell the Father how much you treasure His Presence. Ask Him to make you more aware that His Holy Spirit accompanies you everywhere you go. Ask Him to help you remember that He is right there with you in whatever you are doing.

Think about where you go and what you do. God is with you.
