The Spirit Loves
Romans 15:30
“I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.”
The Holy Spirit loves. John tells us that God is love. Love is an attribute of God. We know love is not all He is because He is also Grace, Truth, Mercy, Justice and many other attributes as well.
Love is not God, but God is love. God is perfect love. His love is aptly and beautifully described by Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:4-10. Stop and prayerfully meditate on that passage. Don’t rush through it.
A.W. Tozer writes, “From God’s other known attributes we may learn much about His love. We can know, for instance, that because God is self-existent, His love had no beginning; because He is eternal, His love can have no end; because He is infinite, it has no limit; because He is holy, it is the quintessence of all spotless purity; because He is immense, His love is an incomprehensibly vast, bottomless, shoreless sea before which we kneel in joyful silence and from which the loftiest eloquence retreats confused and abashed.” 1
Jesus told us in John 13:34-35, that we are to love others the way He loves us. In my own strength that seems impossible, but the Holy Spirit is able to perfectly love others through me if I allow Him.
TODAY’S CHALLENGE:
Thank the Father for His perfect love in His Son by His Holy Spirit. He loves you!
