The Holy Spirit Testifies
Hebrews 10:15-16
“The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says: 16 ‘This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.’ 17 Then he adds: ‘Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.’”
With the Holy Spirit, we have an internal witness who testifies to us about the Way and the narrow path associated with our Christian walk; and, reminds us of God’s unconditional love and forgiveness when we stray.
After we are saved, we have the great blessing of the daily guidance by the Holy Spirit, and He testifies to, and for, us! The Greek word translated in verse 15 as “testifies” means to testify, give testimony, commend, speak well of, and vouch for.
We have learned that the Holy Spirit will always testify of Jesus, so we have His help to know how to live the Christian life the way Jesus instructed. While we have His Word in our Bibles, we also have the inner witness to speak well of, and commend to us, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.
We also have the Spirit to vouch for the fact that our sins are forgiven, and God is not holding our past against us so we are no longer bound by the law of sin and death (see Romans 8:1-2).
What a great witness He is for us!
