Jesus was Full of the Holy Spirit

Luke 4:14

“Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.”

After the Holy Spirit helped Jesus resist all the temptations of the Devil in the desert, Jesus returned to Galilee to begin His ministry in the power of the Holy Spirit. The effectiveness of His ministry from start to finish depended upon the Holy Spirit indwelling.

We see in today’s scripture how news about Jesus spread quickly. In our own strength, we will be poor imitations of Christ as we go about our own lives daily. However, people will see a real difference in us when we are full of the Holy Spirit and are following His direction moment by moment.

When I returned to “the free world” after having been saved and filled with the Holy Spirit in prison, those who had known me before could not believe the difference in me. Actually, I almost did not know myself either!

Even while I was incarcerated, my “cellies” saw God beginning His transformation in me by His Spirit. Everything about me was changing as I dedicated myself to seek God with all my heart. Having been baptized in the Spirit, I had an anointing I had never had before, and I was more empowered to minister to others.

Ask the Father to lead you today by His Holy Spirit. Be sensitive to His leadership. Obey His promptings as He desires to minister to others today through you.
